Nextiles V4 App
Nextiles blends cutting-edge technology with advanced fabrics to capture raw forces, range of motion, and micro-movements in real time. As a material-science company, they’re pioneering smart textiles that collect precise performance data, giving athletes and coaches the insights they need to train smarter, prevent injuries, and push their limits. By merging electronics with soft goods, Nextiles turns everyday apparel into powerful tools for athletic performance and innovation.

Role/Scope
Redesign the Nextiles mobile app to deliver a seamless experience for connecting the product, selecting activities, and collecting session data.
Problems given by users with V3 app
-
Transitioning to a new athlete after a session feels clunky and time-consuming.
-
The current dashboard isn’t intuitive and doesn’t clearly highlight areas for improvement.
-
Users find it difficult to connect the product and begin a session, often unsure whether the device remains connected.
-
Athletes want a history page to review past sessions and track progress over time.
Solutions we created
-
Enabled product pairing directly within the Start Session flow, giving users the option to connect there in addition to the product page for added flexibility.
-
Added a post-session prompt to start a new athlete session or navigate to the History page with one tap.
-
Introduced a dedicated dashboard where coaches can easily access each athlete’s progress and completed sessions.
-
Designed a new History page to review past sessions by month and download detailed, analyzed files for deeper insights.
Ideation

We met with athletes and coaches to gather input on what they wanted from the app, then began sketching ideas on the whiteboard to see what made sense. The CEO joined a few sessions, especially when it came to displaying data, to make sure everything was clear and aligned with the vision.

Wireframes
The app’s top priorities were a smooth product connection process, live sessions for real-time data collection, a post-session screen for notes, and a history section to review and download data for analysis. We built all wireframes in Figma, developed a working prototype, and held weekly meetings to share progress. Each screen included detailed notes to guide our software engineers.
Styleguide
For the style guide, we focused on selecting colors that worked intuitively for line graphs and balanced well on both the app’s light screens and the darker live session screens. We kept it simple by using Nextiles’ branded colors, a bold yellow and a deep black, throughout the app to maintain a clean, consistent look. We spent time testing combinations to ensure clarity and consistency in both modes. For typography, we used the original typeface provided by our CEO, carried over from the first version of the Nextiles app to preserve brand continuity.

Final Deliverables
For the final handoff of the app, we provided a complete package to ensure a smooth transition to development. This included all wireframes with clearly mapped user flows and a fully functional interactive prototype. I led the presentation to our CEO, CBO, and software engineers, walking through each feature and addressing any questions to clarify design decisions.
We also delivered a detailed style guide containing typography, color palettes, button styles, and component specifications. All custom icons and design assets were exported, organized, and shared in a zip file linked to Google Drive so the development team could access and implement them immediately. This thorough documentation and preparation helped the team move quickly from design to build with confidence and consistency.
